Egyptian–Congolese Economic Meeting Cairo – Arab Republic of Egypt | June 12, 2026
On the sidelines of the official visit of His Excellency President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Eng. Mahmoud Samih, Chairman of the Egyptian-Congolese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hosted the bilateral economic meeting at the Chamber’s headquarters in Cairo.

- Mr. André Lobo Koyiti – Representative of the Congolese Ministry of Planning and Advisor on Business Climate and Investment.
- Ms. Rachel Bongo Luamba – Director General of the National Agency for Investment Promotion (ANAPI).
- Mr. Robert Malumba Kalombo – President of the Federation of Congolese Enterprises (FEC).
- A delegation of Congolese businessmen and investors.
- Mr. Hossam Mansi – General Manager of the National Bank of Egypt.
- A number of Egyptian businessmen, investors, and members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
The meeting addressed opportunities for cooperation and investment across several key sectors, including infrastructure, urban development, agriculture, food industries, and logistics services, in addition to financing mechanisms supporting strategic joint projects between the two countries.
Eng. Mahmoud Samih reaffirmed the commitment of the Egyptian-Congolese Chamber of Commerce and Industry to continuing its role in strengthening economic cooperation, attracting investments, and building sustainable partnerships that contribute to enhancing economic relations between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Signing of the memorandum of understanding with the Congolese government
The Congolese government, represented by the Minister, signed
Foreign Trade Julian Baloko Kahongya, and Al-Ahramat Engineering Development Company, one of the companies of Mahmoud Samih Holding Group, represented by Mahmoud Samih, CEO of this group, issued a memorandum of understanding yesterday, Thursday in Kinshasa, which specifies the activation of the Congolese-Egyptian Chamber of Commerce in Kinshasa within 60 days.
The establishment of this Chamber of Commerce aims to facilitate trade between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Egypt by identifying and providing appropriate solutions to the needs of the Congolese market, within the framework of strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation with the aim of encouraging strategic investments in many sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture and technology in many governorates.Including Kinshasa, Central Congo, the Greater Katanga region, the Greater Kasai region and Tshopo.
It also develops and manages a dedicated digital platform that allows disseminating the needs of Congolese actors and contacting qualified Egyptian suppliers; And act as a reliable intermediary between Egyptian suppliers and Congolese buyers, and vice versa, ensuring the quality and conformity of the products offered, as stipulated in the memorandum of understanding.
Engineer Mahmoud Samih, CEO of Mahmoud Samih Holding Group, assured the Congolese government of full cooperation at all levels between the two countries for the success of this strategic partnership, describing the Congolese market as a promising market in all fields, and with the correct management of resources, the basic goals and objectives of the partnership will be achieved to the benefit of all parties
He stressed that this memorandum does not merely represent a legal framework for economic cooperation, but rather is an important strategic step towards inaugurating a new phase of bilateral relations based on exchanging interests and enhancing investment opportunities for the direct benefit of the national economy
Regarding the statement of the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julian Baloko Kahongya, he stressed that the signing of this memorandum of understanding enhances trade and economic cooperation between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Egypt, as the government is committed to ensuring the implementation of projects, by signing this exclusive contract with the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce and establishing a steering committee, as Julian Baloko concluded.Kahongya.
